Live @ Church Stretton Blues ‘n’ Roots
“Dan’s music is from the heart — it is genuine blues and Dan is at the forefront of the new wave in British singer-songwriter talent.” Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac)
Winner of the British Blues Awards Best Young Artist 2013.
‘Blues Boy”Dan Owens’s rise in the world of Blues Music has been nothing short of meteoric.
In 2013 he reached 450,000 YouTube views with his cover of the “Ballad of Hollis Brown”. This brought him to the attention of Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac who took Dan under his wing and became his mentor. This led to Dan being invited to Music legend Willie Nelson’s 80th Birthday Party in Nashville and recording with Grammy-winning producer Vance Powell.
Powell has worked with Willie Nelson, Seasick Steve and LeAnne Rimes and songs from their recording went to numbers 1 and 2 in the iTunes Blues charts at the same.
In summer 2013 Dan then played at Glastonbury, sold out venues and finished the year by scooping the award for Best Young Artist at the British Blues Awards.
If you hear Dan before you see him you’ll think you’re listening to a 70 year old Blues man from the Mississippi Delta. Someone who’s been weaned on whiskey and smokes 70 cigarettes a day.
Come along to one of his gigs however and you find a fresh faced 21 year old from Shropshire with a voice that is setting the world alight.
In March 2014 Dan uploaded the above version of the Willie Dixon song Little Red Rooster to youtube. The song attracted over 80,000 hits in the first five days and was released on itunes due to the phenomenal demand.
This may be your last chance to catch Dan Owen live in such an intimate setting as the Church Stretton Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival 2014.
See you down the front 🙂
