‘Listen closely and hear touches of Dylan and Gram Parsons:straightforward with all the power of a freight train’
‘Hall’s contribution to shaping what we now refer to as ‘Americana’ should not be underestimated’
Whisperin’ & Hollerin’
Americana artist Gary Hall has been making records since 1989. In that year his first album, “Garage Heart” won Runner Up in the Folk Roots’ Album of the Year Awards.
A remarkable achievement when you consider his debut was sandwiched between Bob Dylan’s Oh Mercy (the winner) and John Lee Hooker’s The Healer.
Gary and his band The Stormkeepers toured Europe extensively before Gary relocated to Nashville in 1993.
After a decade of, in his own words ‘Cheap motels, white lines and one night stands’ and sharing the stage with musicians such as Guy Clark, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, Gary returned to England.
In 2014 Gary recorded his twelth album “Warm Valve Glow”. The album is a return to his roots. A stripped down guitar, bass and drums composition oozing the true spirit of Americana at its best.
At Blues’n’Roots Gary will be joined on stage by Mark Wilkinson, his long term guitar player and D. R. Roberts on vocals and percussion. Both who feature on the album.
He intends to showcase all the essential ingredients of blues, folk and Americana music, but with a sound that is very much Gary Hall.
