Now nominated British Blues Awards Best Female Vocalist 2016
“When she opens up her throat, you know that what is coming out has been wrenched from deep inside her, and is delivered with the commitment of a truly passionate artist” (Mark Ashby UBER ROCK)
What a difference a year makes. And what a year it’s been for the inimitable Kaz Hawkins. Just 12 months ago she was Northern Irelands best kept secret.
Then she released her debut album Get Ready.
The world heard her truly amazing voice and BOOM!!!
The blues scene had no choice but to take notice. Get Ready wasn’t just an album it was a statement of intent.
Then the awards started coming.
First the prestigious British Blues Awards Best Emerging Artist 2015. Then the Pure M Award for best Irish Female Act 2015.
And to top it off the award for Best Album as voted for by Blues Matters Magazine.
Kaz embodies all the fighting spirit of the traditional blues singer. She has lived “The Blues” and from the moment you hear her sing you can tell the blues are etched into her very being. Her soaring, heart wrenching vocals tell tales of love and loss, of heart break and hard times as well as triumph over adversity. Comparisons with Etta James and Janis Joplin are inevitable.
With her Band in tow Kaz also injects fun into every performance. She captivates with her extensive vocal range, baring her soul to her audience and giving it her all.
Now with a new bassist the Kaz Hawkins Band are performing like a runaway freight train. Their live performances are winning legions of new fans and are cementing them as one of the best live bands in the UK.
With the release of her second Album “Feelin’ Good” in May 2016 Kaz now finds herself nominated as the British Blues Awards Best Female Vocalist 2016.
