There is always a feel good factor to any Blues Giants gigs, plenty of cheesy humour and classic Blues, played with a sparkle in the eye, enjoyable fun sessions are mandatory. Blues In Britain magazine
An amazing musician. Lenny Henry
Close your eyes when listening to the Steve Ajao Blues Giants and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were listening to a band direct from the Mississippi Delta.
Steve is regarded as one of the hottest Blues guitarists in the UK. He was recently interviewed by Lenny Henry for the show Lenny Henry’s Got The Blues which was broadcast on Sky on 25/9/2015. Afterwards Lenny described meeting Steve as ” a highlight” of his program.
Despite this recent recognition Steve and the band are seasoned blues men who have been amazing audiences for nearly 30 years. The band, made up of Mike Hatton on Bass and former Au Pairs tub thumper Pete ‘Washboard’ Hammond are widely known in the Midlands and across the UK for their no nonsense traditional approach to the blues.
This powerhouse trio remains an absolutely must-see act for any serious blues fan. There are few players in the UK who can demonstrate Steve’s guitar genius.
As well as superb musicianship their live shows are feel good affairs laced with their own brand of humour.
Just don’t be surprised if they wander into the crowd, New Orleans style, while playing Travelling Man or Number Nine.
